The end of nuclear weapons

75 years ago, the Enola Gay dropped Little Boy and was detonated 580 meters over the city of Hiroshima, killing 100,000 civilians. Three days later in Nagasaki, Fat Man was dropped, killing 50,000 civilians. The secret agreement between the US and Britain to share nuclear bomb development was signed by Roosevelt and Churchill in Canada. The men that planned the bombing formed a group called Project Alberta. The goal of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) is the total elimination of nuclear weapons. It was passed on 7 July 2017. In order to come into effect, signature and ratification by at least 50 countries is required. As of 10 August 2020, 44 states have ratified the treaty. Japan has not signed. Neither has Canada.
